Dear Mom and Dad,
Waterville Valley Sports Camp (WVSC) “A Sports for a Lifetime Academy” was created with the vision of a summer camp that combines the benefits of a traditional camp experience with a program that focuses on sports and activities that kids can enjoy for the rest of their lives. We do this in a camp setting that is unsurpassed in New England – in the heart of New Hampshire’s beautiful White Mountain National Forest.
With a balance of structure and freedom that ensures maximum safety and enjoyment, WVSC emphasizes broad participation, team effort, communication and, of course, fun and friendship. Our goal is to introduce campers to activities they can enjoy throughout their lives, develop their skills to the point where they can continue to pursue the activity at their own pace, and have fun while learning new activities. At WVSC, we realize that for most, sports are a hobby, not a college tuition.
While our days are filled with learning and developing skills in sports that can be enjoyed throughout life, our evening programs offer additional enrichment opportunities. In 2008, we are excited to add a performance by the Shakespeare in the Valley troupe, an overnight hike to the top of Mt. Tecumseh, and astronomy to the natural science presentations in partnership with the Rey Center.
To further reinforce the concept that the activities we emphasize are truly lifetime activities (and to help reduce parent’s jealousy!), we invite parents to participate in our unique Parent’s Weekend at the end of the each session. Parent’s Weekend features adult clinics, parent/child tournaments, family hikes and bike rides, and a family Bar-B-Q that allows you to be a real part of your child’s WVSC experience.
I started playing tennis at an early age and still enjoy playing today – I remember watching in amazement as my friends who picked up the game later in life struggled with what came so easily for me. It wasn’t until I started playing golf at a later age that I realized what an advantage it was to have learned a sport as a child.
Today, computer games, television and other modern temptations compete with, and increasingly take time from, healthy, life-long activities and sports; and organized sports are increasingly subjected to overzealous parents, decreasing budgets, and other fun-stifling challenges. There has never been a more urgent need to have kids embrace an active lifestyle by participating in lifetime sports – why not join us for a lifetime of fun and sports at Waterville Valley Sports Camp?
For more information on Waterville Valley Sports Camp and how to sign up your child for one of our 1 or 2 week resident or day camp sessions (Don’t forget we also offer 5 and 7 day lodging packages), look around our website or call me at 800-832-4242 ext 312 for more info.
We look forward to seeing you in the Summer of '08!
Regards,
George Vozeolas
